Nob Hill always surprises. Walking along the Business District near the Monte Vista Fire Station, we came upon the street-lit Tyrannosaurus Rex installation, looking still ferocious minutes after it's lights had just been turned off. Luckily, the display continues every night from 5-9p until the end of the month, because it's pretty cool up close & all lit-up. The T-Rex scene is a collaboration between the MetroABQ's annual Nob Hill & Old Town Shop & Stroll celebrations, & the ABQ Bio Park's "River of Lights."
Together, they created the new Route 66 Shop & Glow holiday festival...The City site describes it:
"The Route 66 Shop & Glow is a newly imagined experience that will provide shoppers with illuminated curbside pick-up along Central Avenue. The City of Albuquerque will be installing River of Lights sculptures to bring twinkled treasures to Albuquerque businesses. In addition, local artists have been commissioned to design and install illuminated art displays in shop windows. As customers pick-up holiday purchases, they can enjoy glowing snowmen, flowers, icicles, animals and more. The City of Albuquerque is committed to supporting local businesses as well as the city's creative economy."
More River of Lights installations can be found in Nob Hill--check out the classic car at the old Kelly's, the tractor at Tractor, & jacks at Slice Parlour...
